SZA previewed a new song on her social media accounts, teasing a new era that is about to come.

She teased something new during her performance at the 2024 BST Hyde Park. She asked the crowd, "New album, you ready?" Afterward, she played a snippet of her unreleased song, "Storytime."

Shortly after, SZA shared the same snippet on her social media accounts, which now have a video.

"I know you told stories about me/ Most of them awful, all of them true/Here's some for you, yeah," SZA sang in the video. In the clip, SZA was dressed and made up to be an extraterrestrial bug-like creature, somewhat of the same nature as the photo she shared on Instagram a few months back.

As of this writing, it is not yet known whether SZA will release an entirely new album or if she will continue working on Lana, the deluxe version of the Grammy-winning album SOS.

Speaking with Variety in November 2023, SZA revealed that the album was supposed to contain outtakes from SOS and some new ones. However, it "become [sic] more than" she had expected.

"It was gonna be really soft because I had made all my screaming points, and I just wanted to glide, and not think [too much], and get out of my own head - I was so happy to say some s**t that didn't mean a f**king thing," SZA revealed.

However, things changed in March 2024, when she told her fans that she would start from scratch with her new album after some of it was leaked online.

"So, we'll make this really simple. Y'all leaked three songs from the deluxe. At this point, y'all can keep the throwaways and leaks," SZA wrote on X in a now-deleted Tweet, as Rap-Up reported. "Do not ask me about it again. Thank you."

Around the same time, she revealed that she would be releasing the leaks and outtakes from SOS as promised in a deluxe version of the album. Although she noted that Lana is the deluxe version of SOS, she then said that Lana deserves "more time and music no one's ever heard before," signaling that the project might be entirely new now, NME reported.
